Happy Holidays!
I know, I know. We are total nerds. So, even though we don’t have I-pods, Laptops, even cable or surround sound, we thought we should take a leap into the new millennium and launch a very fascinating website; one that should prove to be the greatest internet experience of your life.
So what has been going on in 2006?
2006 has proven to be a very
challenging, but notable year for both of us. As you may know, the band
Mike is in, Six Ounce Gloves,
signed with an independent label in late 2005. It took a couple months
to get the details worked out, but beginning in March the guys hit the
road and began touring up & down the West Coast through mid-November.
They were able to come back home for a couple weeks over the holidays,
and although it has been a difficult schedule it seems to be helping
drum up support for the band. Currently they are playing
With Mike on the road I decided I might as well focus more on my career rather than homemaking (which really just comes naturally anyway). For the last several years I have been working for a privately owned marketing and sponsorship sales agency which I absolutely love. But not as much as I love Diet Pepsi. And boy, if you think your car is fast you need to drive a new Toyota. And did you know Cingular has Blue Tooth technology so you can talk on your Cingular while you drive your Toyota and drink your Diet Pepsi? Good stuff. Seriously though, I love my job and my boss – he allows me to ask plenty of dumb questions and doesn’t dock my pay! It’s just us for now, but we did bring my younger sister Tara on at Fair time to help us out – Helped make the insanity a little more fun! FYI, Tara (and Lore’s paycheck) is going to Fresno State, just like her big sister! I love having her here in town – she’s just an 8 minute bike ride away at all times. Something every sister needs.
Mike & I celebrated our 5th anniversary in April, and the 3rd year in our home in May. We love the house! Stop by before any Fresno State home game – We will likely be in the back yard with the BBQ going and a tub full of Miller Lite on ice (plug, plug). We are especially looking forward to hosting our friends Sean & Amanda’s wedding in our back yard in May of ’07. It will mean a lot of prep and garden work, but I am looking forward to the chance to get the yard in to tip-top shape. Mike taught me how to mow the lawn and weed-whack (my favorite) so I can keep up with the yard while he is out on the road. I’m teaching him how to write a check to the gardener. In any event we are excited to see the back yard get a much needed face lift.
Our families are doing well. Mom & Howard have been a great support system while Mike is on the road. Even though I don't call near enough I know they are down the road (but I won't be riding my bike there) & will take care of me whenever I need it. Mitch is doing well, still living in Fresno & Christina is in her first year of college - WOW! Joanne bought a house this year - another WOW! and we are hoping to enjoy some very delicious meals to come from her new kitchen! Mom & Jim moved back to Red Bluff - kind of. Mom calls Red Bluff home while Jim counts the days until retirement, finishing up in Susanville. I think he just loved living with Tina & me in the 5th wheel at the Shangri La so much that he is trying to relive it. Dad & Lore are now empty nesters since I stole Tara away, but seems like they are adjusting just fine. Angie & Jonathan came to visit in October & brought the girls - Madison & Mariah (#1 & #2 Pee Wee Division state fiddle champs!) played at The Big Fresno Fair! Macy isn't playing yet, but stole the show with her cuteness. It was awesome. Tina & Mike are still in San Diego (probably in shorts right now) and are expecting their first Baby to arrive in May! We are SOOO excited to meet the little McNulty.
Just after the year turns I am looking forward to my first big vacation in a very long time! After almost 11 years I will be going back to see my host family in Brazil! I am so excited, but wish that Mike could come with me. It isn’t in the cards this time, but he promises me lots of tropical vacations together in the coming years, so I’ll deal. For those of you who subscribed to The Brazilian Beat back in ’96 – check back in the near future. I won’t even charge for subscriptions this time and I’ll continue to post the much loved “Ways to Stay Groovy” section.
Well, we promise to do our best to keep this very interesting site evolving & full of new information about what is going on in our world. Thanks for visiting!
